The Maliau Basin or “Borneo’s Lost World” as it is often referred to, is a largely untouched and protected area in the interior of Sabah. It is a spectacular and captivating environment with an immensely rich plant and animal life including pygmy elephants, Bornean gibbons, hornbills and orangutans. Those prepared to make the effort to take on the challenging treks will be left in awe by the natural beauty of the diverse ecosystems found in this pristine forest.
The 5 day adventure suits adventurous travellers who enjoy the outdoors and are comfortable with basic camp like accommodation. The treks are challenging and a good level of fitness is required.
